From the first episode you might have already learned that it’s very important for an inexperienced marketer to stick with something you are passionate about, that will make things a lot easier in terms of marketing and sales.
In 2011 I was a very active gamer in the MMORPG World of Warcraft, through the game I learned how to make “virtual” money buying and reselling for higher value. Then I started to attempt this in real life with the World of Warcraft Trading card game.
The audience trading/collecting these trading cards and especially the rare “lootcards” behaved very similar as they did online, which made it easy to sell. To get the cards however, turned out to be less easy and more of a hard task.
Most of the cards ended up being purchased from DACardworld in the USA and then shipped in large booster cases to The Netherlands, where they were opened and re-packaged and resold.
The journey came to quite an abrupt ending when the Dutch Tax Services got involved and shut the party down.
Overall profit on this entire venture was about $15000-20000 and a lot of business lessons learned.
